Pre-visualisation
What is pre-visualisation?
Pre-visualisations are computer generated images of your logo or identity in situ on the kind of things that you'll probably want to have them on; like stationery, signage or vehicles.
Pre-visualisations are created in the design phase of production (before you select your final artwork) to help you to see how your logo or identity will look in the real world. The kind of pre-visualisations that I can provide are almost unlimited and can include for instance, your logo or identity on say...
- A shop, office or building signage or interior signs
- A billboard, bus stop or other outdoor display
- Workwear, clothing, textiles, bags, carpeting
- Presentation and exhibition displays
- Promotional items, cups, pens, mousemats
- Vehicles, machinery, equipment

The benefits to you
Pre-visualising gives you confidence that your logo or identity will work in the real world and perform well against your competitors before you finalise your design. This of course can help you achieve significantly greater success by helping you to maximise your market share.
Refining and reappraising in pre-visualisation is fairly quick and easy and can save significant time and costs in various circumstances - for instance, say you'll be placing adverts on a perimiter billboard around a sports field; in pre-vis we can photograph those billboards and (in the computer) make photo-realistic images that show your proposed advert in situ, alongside your competitors adverts. This can be revised and tweeked until we're sure that it will perform well and earn its keep.

Identities that work
How identities work
Can a well designed logo or identity really make a difference to your organisations success? I'm certain of it. We all make snap judgements about the world from even a passing glance, we know whether we can afford a suit from the typeface in the logo or if a meal is aimed at children from the styling of the package design.
We have to filter in this way because of the sheer volume of sensory (usually advertising) bombardment that we all face continually, so when you need to `dress` your business or organisation, you need to send the right cues to stop your target audience scanning straight past you and onto your competitors.
Good identity design should help to funnel the kind of attention you desire in your direction thereby diverting it from your competitors. It does this by reflecting your corporate personality, proposition, market sector and price position - and in identity projects, these attributes drive all aspects of your visual communication, from your logo, through your typefaces, to the kind of imagery you use and the form and layout of your communications material.

Production process
The general process I use for logo & identity design is...
- FREE Project planning - We discuss your needs, goals and resources and you educate me about anything that impacts upon them. We work together to define your proposition and personality statements (a technique that comes from high-end brand development theory) which will be the backbone of the project development. We brainstorm a variety of strategic guidelines (in format, symbolism and aesthetic) and we evaluate, research and refine these until we have a set of very well considered pointers. We never rush this stage as it determines the ultimate success of the project (this is also why I provide it free of charge). When we are settled on the final guidelines for production the project planning phase is complete.
- Quote & Deposit - On your formal agreement to proceed with the project within the production guidelines, I will send you a fixed price quote (*Time sensitive) and an invoice for £200 deposit. New clients must settle the invoice by cheque or cash before I proceed.
- Concept Development - I create a range of scamps (rough artwork) that show various conceptual routes. These are for us to assess and sometimes to test with a small segment of your target audience. After this we sometimes revise our ideas and produce more scamps.
- Design - A small selection of scamps chosen to be created at a virtually finished quality. For identity work, draft images and copywriting are produced, aquired or contracted out and the finished designs are used for evaluation and potentially more testing.
- Production - The chosen logo or identity package is created as print ready artwork. For identity work guidelines and templates are developed supplied and training is given on best use.
- Delivery - The finished artwork is prepared and delivered to you and any requested communications material is sent off to print. For indentity work, guidelines and templates are provided and training is given on correct use of the identity.
